Welcome to Avila Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery is about a lot more than vanity. Dr. Avila and his dedicated staff have been providing confidential, affordable cosmetic and reconstructive surgery intended to enhance physical appearances and personal well-being since 1998. In personal consultation, Dr. Avila will discuss recommendations, outcomes and any possible risks. Your safety is our primary concern.
Most procedures are done on an outpatient basis.
Four Essential Steps Before Plastic Surgery:
- Do Your Homework - Research the procedure, the benefits, and the risks.
- Have Realistic Expectations - Plastic surgery is dramatic and permanent, it's important that you have a clear understanding of how surgery might make you feel long before a procedure is scheduled.
- Ask your plastic surgeon about the benefits and risks of your surgery; discuss your expectations and understand side effects and recovery time. During the consultation be sure to discuss your full medical history to determine the most appropriate treatment.
- Talk to patients who have had your procedure so you know what to expect.
The differences between Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery:
Cosmetic surgery is performed to reshape normal structures of the body in order to improve the patient's appearance and self-esteem. Cosmetic surgery is usually not covered by health insurance because it is elective.
Reconstructive surgery is performed on abnormal structures of the body, caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors or disease. It is generally performed to improve function, but may also be done to approximate a normal appearance. Reconstructive surgery is generally covered by most health insurance policies although coverage for specific procedures and levels of coverage may vary greatly.
Restylane® is dermal filler that restores volume to the skin, giving a smoother, more youthful appearance. Restylane® is made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is a crystal-clear gel called NASHAT or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, non-surgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years of age. It is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
